Juliana Bohn

Juliana Bohn
- PT, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT, clinic owner

Physical therapist Juliana Bohn, the owner of Bellingham Sports & Spine Physical Therapy, was drawn to her profession because she wanted to help people, and physical therapy seemed to have the most options to help them ease their pain and rehabilitate after surgery.

"I am convinced that the profession of physical therapy has the widest range of conservative, non-pharmaceutical tools available to make a difference in people’s lives,” she explained.

“I could see that the more I advanced my skill and knowledge base, the more effective I was in getting people back to their normal level of activity without pharmaceuticals or surgery.”

Juliana became a physical therapist in 1981 and she has been licensed in Washington State and practicing her profession in Bellingham since 1986.

In addition to gaining valuable experience over the years, she is certified in a number of specialized fields.

For example, she is a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist (2011 from the American Physical Therapy Association), a Certified Manual Therapy Therapist (CMPT) (2010 from the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy), a Certified Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapist (COMT) (2013 from the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy, and a Certified Clinical Instructor (from the American Physical Therapy Association) for physical therapy students at the University of Washington and elsewhere.

She is a fellowship graduate in advanced orthopedic manual therapy techniques (FAAOMPT) in 2013 (AAOMPT and NAIOMT).

She is also an instructor for Clinical Residency Programs, a Teachers’ Assistant for NAIOMT courses. She has lectured on a regular basis for health and wellness events in her community.

A member of the APTA and PTWA for 26 years, she is certified in Selective Functional Movement Assessment in April, 2016, and Connect Therapy Series in August of 2016.

She received her Spinal Manipulation Endorsement in Washington State in November 2016. Instrument-Assisted Soft-Tissue Mobilization for Spine and Extremity Conditions and Evidence Based Approach as well as Surface EMG and Bio Feedback.

When she is not treating clients, Juliana enjoys trail running, backpacking, ashtanga yoga and Argentine Tango. Her son is her pride and joy and will occasionally cajole her into supporting him as a pit crew member during his endured motocross races, a muddy Northwest avocation.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Carlow University in Pennsylvania (2005) and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Temple University (2012).

In addition, she has taken specialized training for Functional Movement System Screening and Negative Pressure Myofascial Decompression.

Kim, who joined the team in September, 2016, is currently working on her certification as an orthopedic specialist.
